What’s your New Year’s Resolution for 2016?
It’s that time of the year again where we all vow to make self-improvements and generally do better in life. But what will be your New Year’s Resolution for 2016? And will you stick to it? We have listed some ideas below which could help you make a decision…
-
Drink less Alcohol:
Being a student in Leeds has its perks with so many options for student night life and with cheap drinks you can find a decent place to party every night of the week. You will more than likely also stumble across a house party or two when living in Headingley or Hyde Park area. With a constant intake of alcohol which usually leads to takeaways and junk food, you can expect this to have an impact on your health and well-being. We know it may be hard to completely cut out alcohol but maybe you could consider one month alcohol free 😉

Join a gym/Lose a few extra pounds:
There are so many gyms in Leeds with great deals for students and cheap fees that you would have to have a good excuse not to be a member. With that in mind, why not make it your mission in 2016 to improve your health and fitness. It is also a great way to combat those January blues as exercise releases endorphins which trigger positive feelings within the body. Regular exercise has also been proven to decrease your stress levels, reduce anxiety and depression, boost self-esteem and improve your sleep habits. For any student tackling exams and revision we think a bit of extra exercise could do you the world of good.
-
Eat clean:
We know this is a tough one for most Leeds students as there are so many take away restaurants calling your name at 3:00am. However eating healthier can have so many benefits to your health and well-being that it would be silly not to watch what you are eating, especially during the exam period. Not only can eating healthier help you to lose a few extra pounds, it can also improve your mood, help you to sleep better, improve your skin and of course give you more energy. So why not try switching the red bull for some fruit and veggies in 2016.
-
Donate or Volunteer for a Charity:
You could choose to volunteer for a number of reasons such as giving something back to your community or developing your own skills and experiences. In Leeds there are a number of organisations that you could get involved with. Doing Good Leeds – https://doinggoodleeds.org.uk/volunteering-in-leeds.html is a great place to find out about local volunteer opportunities that you could get involved in from helping with the elderly to feeding the homeless. Volunteer work can also be added to your CV and looks great to potential employers. So why not spare a few hours a week and give something back to people less fortunate than yourself.

Learn something new:
Every year there will be something that you have been me
aning to learn, such as learn a new language, or how to play an instrument or even improve your cooking skills. So why not make 2016 the year that you accomplish this goal. Learning something new gives us a great sense of achievement and could also open up a set of skills that could help with progressing your future. Sir Francis Bacon, an English philosopher and writer who lived during the 17th century, once said, “Knowledge is power.” When you have knowledge, you have the power to achieve many things. For students in Leeds there is so much competition for jobs so why not increase your skills by learning something new.
Whatever you decide to give up or change we hope you have a fabulous 2016!!!!!!! Happy New Year from Aston Properties.
